With nowhere to go but my home office, my living room, or my yard, I found it hard to maintain a healthy work/life boundary in 2020. Even when I was fully committed to Not Working, my brain disagreed. I needed a way to trick it into doing something….well, DIFFERENT with its free time.
First I doodled on my phone, with my finger.
Then my artist brother-in-law told me a $12 digital art app for my iPad might be just the thing. Suddenly the old trick I had used to entertain kids and friends on restaurant napkins—“hey, here’s a scribble, make it into something!”—was keeping ME occupied as I waited for some proverbial appetizers to free me from Covid monotony.
And then I just never stopped.
